The Why

Most companies begin with an opportunity. IXARA began with a loss.

In January 2026, our founder lost his father, Theodore J. Katz. Alongside grief came paperwork, benefits, the estate, and hospice decisions - questions nobody had prepared him to answer.

IXARA was built from a simple belief: families deserve guidance during life's hardest moments. Not more information. Not more websites. Guidance.

A family together at home
Vision

A world where no family faces life's hardest passages alone.

Mission

We help families find the next right step when life feels overwhelming.

You don't have to do this alone.

The Guidance Framework

Rooted like a family, growing like a promise kept.

Roots

A founder's story, grounding everything we build.

Trunk

One companion, Haven, strong enough to carry the weight.

Branches

Five passages a family might walk, each with its own path.

Leaves

Every journey, phase, and guide a family actually uses.

Hands

The Katz Family Foundation, giving back to those who gave first.

A note from the founder

If you're here in the dark hours, I hope this brings you some peace.

My father, Theodore J. Katz, U.S. Navy, on deployment circa 1966.

If you found this site at 11 p.m. on a Tuesday, in a hospital parking lot, with your phone in one hand and a cup of cold coffee in the other, I know that feeling. I've been there.

My father, Theodore, passed away in January. He served in Vietnam and spent the rest of his life at a workbench, with Morse code crackling through a radio and the smell of hot solder in the air. He was a fixer. I'm a veteran myself, and between us we'd seen plenty.

None of it prepared me for the disorientation of his last weeks. Hospice paperwork. The funeral home. The Social Security calls. The thousand small decisions, each one heavier than it should be. Before I could grieve and finalize his arrangements, I had to also figure out who would care for my mother. Where would she live? What benefits was she entitled to? Could we take care of her? I've built software for a living, and even I couldn't find the path.

That's why IXARA exists. HavenCare is a quiet hand on your shoulder when you don't know the next step. We built it with the same care my father built radios with: slowly, carefully, and only when we were sure.

This is a passion project born out of loss. I hope, in your hardest hours, it offers some solace. We're here, and we're ready to help, whatever shape that help needs to take.

Our approach

How we build.

Grounded, not guessed

Structured answers pull straight from your family's own records because guidance should never be invented.

Bilingual by design

Every journey, every door, in English or Spanish from day one and never an afterthought.

Software, not headcount

Haven runs on software so guidance stays fast and available no matter how many families need it.

Where IXARA fits

The Katz Family Foundation

Named for those who served, and served, and served again.

The Katz Family Foundation honors Theodore J. Katz — Vietnam veteran, ham radio operator, network engineer, father, grandfather and friend. It is designed to fund free HavenCare platform access and funeral assistance grants for veteran families and Gold Star households, and to guide the complexity of VA benefits navigation work.
